Welcome

The 16th District, Department of Virginia is made up of Culpeper, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, Rappahannock, and Stafford Counties in Northern Virginia. We represent 16 American Legion Posts and a total of nearly 5,000 wartime service veterans who are proud to call themselves Legionnaires. The District provides an interface between individual Posts and the Department of Virginia, and is an important part of the structure required for them to be involved in many important American Legion programs.

This web site has several functions:

  • Provide our communities with program and contact information for local American Legion Posts
  • Provide an interface between the Posts and the 16th District officers and committees
  • Share information between posts, the district, and the Department of Virginia about events and schedules
  • Promote American Legion programs both in the community and among Legionnaires

In an effort to improve the usability of this site, we've moved to a more interactive, easier to maintain format. Please be patient while we bring content back online and integrate new features.

The 16th District is currently under the command of Ron Bantom from Post 158 in Manassas.
